LowBridgeLab / Research notes

A reason for every inclusion.
A reason for every omission.

How we compare exact versions across prices, materials and brands, and decide which evidence is strong enough to publish.

Match the need before the brand.

A candidate must be an everyday prescription-ready frame in an identifiable colour, size and fit version. We examine documented nose support, then dimensions and any stated cheek-clearance design. A product photo alone cannot establish how a frame sits on a particular face.

We compare dedicated low-bridge construction and adjustable nosepads as different support routes. Shape stays a preference. Fit problems that persist after an appropriate fitting are a reason to reconsider the exact frame.

Four price ranges.
A consistent price basis.

The catalogue supports under $50, $50–under $150, $150–under $300 and $300 or more. These are navigation ranges in USD, not quality grades. A brand does not earn a place because we need to fill a price band.

We display the observation date. An expired quote stops participating in price filters. A retailer link can remain useful without a verified public price.

Material is a question,
not a quality score.

We record the source's description and the relevant frame component. A titanium temple does not make the whole frame titanium. A material name alone does not establish finished weight, durability, nickel exposure or long-term comfort.

When weight is reported, its configuration matters: frame-only, demo lenses and prescription lenses are different measurements. Ask about replacement pads, repair support and the complete lens configuration when those affect your choice.

Read the counterexamples.

We seek recent and lower-rated feedback as well as favourable accounts, note the exact version where available and avoid counting duplicates twice. Each public sample shows its collection scope and limitations.

An isolated finish complaint remains an individual account unless a broader pattern is established. A high average rating cannot prove a particular fit. When a useful exact-version sample is absent, we say so rather than substitute a brand-wide score.

The omissions matter too.

A published recommendation needs current facts, a reviewed editorial decision, an exact purchase target and approved imagery. AI responses, when available, must be authentic, traceable and reviewed against the same evidence packet. Editorial frame guidance can be published while AI collection is pending; it is never labelled an AI recommendation.

A withdrawn or unavailable version does not become a luxury recommendation just to broaden coverage. Brands with too few reviewed models do not receive an expansive brand-level verdict. The catalogue grows when evidence supports it.

We have not performed a comparative wear trial. Product facts, buyer experiences, editorial conclusions and AI interpretations remain separate. Commission cannot substitute for any of them.
